We arrived in Portland on June 16, after a couple of days of extended driving. The night before, we stayed in Ashland, in a comfortable enough motel.
I have not been updating our progress regularly, though we’ve been keeping all receipts in the hope of reconstructing the trip. Currently at the Toyota dealer in Portland getting some maintenance done on the vehicle (we got a nail in one tire, so they’re replacing it, along with the cabin air filter, and rotating the tires). It’s actually a miracle to me that the oil does not need replacing for another 5,000 miles, which we may well do on the way back.
Ilana and Jon and Amira seem to be doing well and are happy with their new house, which has a much bigger backyard and two bathrooms. Apart from seeing them, I’m anxious to get back on the road to our place. There’s a lot going on with the property at this time of year, and potential minor crises to deal with, but I’m just more settled and more comfortable there. On the other hand, it’s hard to beat being “on vacation,” which arguably we have been for the past couple of days.
